The Girl Scouts of Junior Troop 788 held their Adoption Carnival on the grounds of the Briggs Animal Adoption Center on Saturday, May 9, 2009. 

They had a wonderful day and Mrs. Anna C. Briggs, Founder of the National Humane Education Society (parent organization of the BAAC) attended and spent hours with the group, participating in the games and meeting all the wonderful Girl Scouts who have faithfully and willingly dedicated their time at the Briggs Animal Adoption Center, Charles Town, WV, over a four-month period.

Numerous carnival games were played with prizes. There was a bake sale and lemonade stand set up, and lots of Girl Scout cheer was spread throughout! The girls worked very hard on the preparation of this event and had a blast running the carnival!

Junior Troup 788 volunteered their time every Saturday in an effort to earn their Junior Bronze Award. Their project was entitled “Girl Scouts 4 Paws & Claws.” At the conclusion of their project, they each had volunteered 51 ½ hours to our organization!

They assisted Briggs Animal Adoption Center by working in their Education Department, developing and maintaining cat adoption binders for the public to use, doing housework, playing with the new puppies, and spending hours and hours in the Cattery getting to know dispositions of the cats and just spending quality time with them.

Junior Troop 788 held various events over several weeks to finalize their project, to include donation drives at area businesses.   

As a result of all the hard work Girl Scout Troop 788 volunteered for Briggs, they collected over $2,500 worth of donated items for the animals!
